After a night out at Frankston pub, Sam Howe hitched a ride home. What happened next you would not believe. Ten minutes later, Sam’s life changed forever. Sam was the front seat passenger. The driver lost control. The car rolled three times at speed and hit a tree on his side. The car upside down, Sam was trapped. Ambulance paramedics had trouble finding his pulse when they arrived on the scene of the accident. It was 90 minutes before SES and CFA cut Sam out of the wreck. He was close to death. Sam was critically injured, sustaining brain damage when his skull was smashed. At 3am he was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital in a coma which lasted for 28 days.
